Frequently asked questions

How to use this site and where its limits are.

Is this site financial advice?

No. It provides general educational information and simple arithmetic tools. It does not know your complete circumstances and does not provide personalized financial, investment, tax, legal, credit or insurance advice.

Why don't the guides give one 'ideal' savings percentage?

Household costs, income stability, dependants, taxes and goals vary widely. Fixed percentages can be useful examples, but they are not universal rules.

Why are credit-score ranges not listed as universal?

Credit bureaus, scoring models and ranges differ by country and provider, and models can change. The site focuses on the underlying ideas rather than presenting one score system as global.

Do calculator inputs leave my browser?

The calculators included in this rebuild run in JavaScript in the browser. The site does not create an account or save calculator entries.

Are investment returns shown by calculators guaranteed?

No. Any return rate entered is an assumption chosen by the user for illustration. Actual investment returns can be higher, lower or negative.

Why do some pages say to check an official local source?

Taxes, deposit insurance, retirement accounts, mortgage rules, credit reporting and consumer protections are jurisdiction-specific and can change.
